Make sure that you have the tools and bits to do these and other small tasks: Here is my suggestion for a tool kit:

• Plug spanner
• Selection of mm sockets including ones to get the wheels off
• Screw/cross head drivers
• Mole grips
• Tyre levers
• Pump
• Puncture repair kit
• Spare tube ( take one for the biggest wheel, it fits both)
• Spare brake and clutch lever
• Spark plug
• Cable ties
• First aid kit
• Bog paper – you never know when!

Keep the tools wrapped in a polly bag inside you chosen tool carrier, either waist mounted or fixed to the back of the bike. When you want them you will want them in a condition they can be used.
